GEA Pharma Systems, the global technology leader for pharmaceutical processing solutions, has recently signed an agency representation agreement with ACE Technologies of Mumbai to sell its range of GEA Courtoy tablet presses throughout India. This development adds an important sales channel for GEA Pharma Systems and is expected to have a significant positive effect on the company’s market growth in the region.

ACE Technologies is one of India’s leading companies involved in supplying & distributing processing technology for the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry. The company has a wide customer network and extensive service capabilities that are ideally suited to help GEA Pharma Systems expand its activity in this rapidly growing market.

Navin Lakhanpaul, Regional Manager for GEA Pharma Systems in India confirmed that the agreement was good news for his customers too. “The new agreement will provide an excellent service network enabling us to react more quickly to our customers’ requirements for high quality service and supply of market leading tableting technology,” he said.

The agreement currently covers the supply and servicing of MODUL™ and PERFORMA™ tablet presses from GEA Courtoy in Belgium. Both products represent market leading technology for their specified applications: The MODUL™ tablet presses all feature Exchangeable Compression Modules (ECM) that are ideal for rapid, multiple product change-over tableting lines and applications that require a high level of product containment; the PERFORMA™ is designed for tableting facilities that require long runs and few product change-overs. The agreement allows ACE Technologies to distribute and support the full range of these key products.

Until now all GEA’s sales in India have been handled through their regional office in Vadodara, Gujarat. However the company has recognized that to provide this growing market with the best possible service and to embrace the opportunities presented, it would require a national network. Frans K.A. Maas, Division Director Sales & Marketing said that he is very excited about this new strategic development for the company. “We have seen the phenomenal success that ACE Technologies has had as a distributor of processing equipment in India and are confident that their customer network, service set up and engineering capabilities will be a tremendous asset to us,” he said.

Currently a large proportion of GEA Pharma Systems’ equipment is manufactured in Europe however the facilities in Vadodara are being extended to provide a full manufacturing capability. The factory will be completed in March 2009 and will provide locally produced products of European quality to help GEA Pharma Systems compete even more strongly in the future.
