Equal Porosity Tabletting (EPT) is Courtoy's most recent
innovation. EPT is the most advanced way of compressing a tablet. One
of the most important benefits is a significant reduction
of variability in critical tablet qualities.
When this principle of tablet compression is used, all tablets
within a batch will have nearly identical tablet density and thus porosity
(variability will be minimal). As the porosity is strongly correlated to the
dissolution time of the tablet, all tablets of this batch will show very
similar dissolution times. This will in turn result in
significantly less variation in drug release profile and
bio-availability.
