Continuing the success story for GPS technologies in China

GEA Pharma Systems, the technology leader for pharmaceutical solid dosage and freeze drying technology, will be exhibiting this year at China-Pharm at the Shanghai New International Expo Center from 27th – 30th October. GEA Pharma Systems’ presence at this exhibition demonstrates the importance of the Chinese market to this key process equipment manufacturer. Last year China-Pharm in Beijing attracted over 350 exhibitors and more than 15,000 visitors.

GEA Pharma Systems has attended China-Pharm every year since 1999 and considers the event to be one of the most important exhibitions for companies operating in the Chinese market.

John Lu, business manager GPS China said, “GEA Pharma Systems’ ability to provide price/performance options from Europe as well as from our facilities in China gives enormous advantages to both Chinese pharmaceutical companies and contract manufacturers for both the domestic and export markets. Our success in the Chinese market is an achievement of the global GEA Pharma Systems team and especially of the manufacturing, sales and services plant in Shanghai.”

Frans K. A. Maas, division sales and marketing director of GPS said, “China- Pharm comes hot on the heals of GEA Lyophil’s milestone, 15 million euro order from the Zhejiang Hisun Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. in Taizhou Zhejiang, China for the supply of seven pharmaceutical freeze drying systems with ALUS (Automatic Loading and Unloading System). The order is a major breakthrough in the region allowing Hisun to expand its operations into formulated pharmaceutical products for injection focus in oncology and infectious diseases for both export and domestic markets. Furthermore, it also proves the interest in China for western freeze drying technology, as we can provide high process quality, operational reliability, plus our established commercial and project management organisation in China.”

At China-Pharm, GEA will have a wide range of equipment on the stand including a fluid bed dryer built in the GEA factory in Shanghai; a mobile minor spray dryer; a CIP skid of formulation process plant showing GEA’s Clean-in-Place technology; and a Buck® High Containment valve for containment applications in solid dose pharma processing.

GEA Pharma Systems will profile NEW technologies at China-Pharm 2009

FlexStream™ is a new multi-purpose processor from GEA Pharma Systems. It uses proven Aeromatic-Fielder™ fluid bed technology to achieve fluid bed granulation, drying and pellet coating (or tablet coating) in ONE single process bowl providing both flexibility and cost benefits.

Continuous Solid Dosage Processing (Consigma™): continuous granulation, drying and tabletting system. It has a flexible batch size from 500g to many tonnes and can run R&D, clinical trial, launch size, and any production size batches on the same machine. There is no process scale-up as time is the only relevant factor in a continuous process. This allows manufacturers to reduce development time dramatically to reduce costs and bring products to market much faster. The system is lightweight, ultra small (1/3 of a classic granulation line) and has a modular construction making it fit perfectly in any R&D department or existing Solid Dosage suite (inclusive of a tablet press). The process is more robust and by incorporating quality control inside the process, the product end quality is better than ever.

Containment: highly reliable protection for personnel and products. Wherever solid material transfer takes place, then restrictions on dust emission must be observed for the potection of both products and personnel during the production process. This applies to dust-free charging and discharging of production units with sensitive/toxic powders and granulates. GEA Pharma Systems is the global leader in providing the industry with proven containment solutions.
The show will be held in Halls W4 and W5 of the exhibition centre. GEA staff will be on hand on stand 5407 to provide information and answer visitors’ specific questions.
