GEA Courtoy will be showing the latest in tableting technology on
the GEA Pharma Systems stand at ACHEMA this year. Also you will
have the opportunity to participate in our tablet compression seminar!
The MODUL™ P and PERFROMA™ P small scale
tablet presses
are designed for different applications but share 80%
identical components and GEA Courtoy’s most advanced compression technology:
- Air compensator at pre-compression offering extended, and freely-adjustable
dwell time. This results in perfect de-aeration of the powder bed prior to main
compression, eliminating or significantly reducing lamination and capping
problems with any type of formulation (wet or dry granulation or direct
compaction) - even at high speed.
- Air compensator at final compression allows compression to ‘equal force’
(i.e. ‘equal porosity’) or ‘equal thickness’. Equal thickness compression is
the conventional compression method available on any rotary tablet press.
'Equal porosity' compression applies exactly the same peak compression force to
every tablet, independent of variations in tablet weight and punch length,
thereby significantly reducing variability in tablet hardness, dissolution time
and bio-availability. Equal force compression is particularly beneficial for
the production of ODT (Orally Disintegrating Tablets) and MUPS (Multiple Unit
Pellets System) as these require low and accurately-controlled compression
forces. Equal force compression has also proven to reduce significantly capping
and sticking with delicate formulations caused by too high or too low peak
forces.
- Dual Control, providing simultaneous and continuous weight and hardness
control through two independent control loops. Dual Control has proven to
increase productivity and reduce powder losses, as it significantly reduces
machine stops due to IPC checks out of specification.
MODUL™ P for fast product changeover, containment
and versatility
The MODUL™ P is equipped with the patented ECM
(Exchangeable Compression Module) offering extremely fast product change-over,
inherently better product containment and unmatched versatility. The same basic
MODUL™ P can be equipped with a WOL-ECM (Wash-off-Line ECM) for
high-containment applications or with a BL-ECM for bi-layer tablet production.
With the standard C-ECM the MODUL™ P is the perfect machine for a multi-product
production environment where unmatched productivity is achieved thanks to
product change-over times down to one quarter of conventional exchangeable
turret machines.
Continuous Processing
The MODUL™ P tablet press will be
exhibited at ACHEMA 2009 as part of a complete continuous process line, along
with the revolutionary Consigma™ continuous high-shear granulation and drying
system. The system satisfies the pharmaceutical industry’s demand for
continuous production to provide improved quality, flexibility and consistency
for pharmaceutical processes.
PERFROMA™ P for top productivity in the long run
The
PERFORMA™ P is the machine of choice for production runs with fewer product
change-overs. High productivity is achieved by a larger number of punch
positions and a novel die design: EDD (Exchangeable Die Disc). This design
achieves flexibility and easy product change over; it’s a significantly more
economical alternative to the conventional exchangeable turret. The PERFORMA™ P
has the highest ratio of output to footprint on the market. PERFORMA™ P will be
exhibited at ACHEMA 2009 with the novel ABWS (Automatic Bulk Weighing System)
offering a tremendous improvement in on-line tablet weight control. The ABWS is
GEA Courtoy's latest addition to its range of unique & advanced PAT tools
for better process control.
See the PERFROMA™ P and MODUL™ P on the GEA Pharma Systems stand at ACHEMA
in Hall 4 stand D13 – G22.
