IBC system key process flow interfaces for a granulation
area
The effective and safe transfer of both excipients and
active ingredients is essential and there are a number of option:
Gravity feeding
Gravity loading through a discharge station from the level
above or via the post hoist are ideal solutions ensuring containment and
simplicity of cleaning. API discharge vessels can be used to discharge into the
granulator for the more potent applications.
Vacuum feeding – Room Height Restrictions
Where room height constraints prevail, a contained Vacuum
Station is an option incorporating containment valves which will limit airborne
dust, and may therefore assist in reducing area classifications. It is also
possible to improve safety by using the containment valve interlocking features
with a nitrogen purge system.
Unloading of the granulation equipment
Can incorporate in-line sieving or milling before the
granules are loaded into a container. Lubricant or other materials may then be
added (using charge containers) and blended with the granules.
