The systems consists of an office based 'administration' module and a work-station based 'production' module.

The Administration module:

  • Allows new recipes to be formulated, new raw materials to be added and new batches to be raised.
  • The supervisor can view all the information relating to dispensed batches, the lot numbers of the raw materials used, actual dispensed weights and the operator who performed the dispensing operation as well as time and date of the operation.
  • User privileges for the system are set using the Administration module Information is securely stored on an SQL database, which can reside on the client’s main server, or a local PC for smaller systems.

The Production module:

  • is based within the dispensary and steps the operator through the weighing process using a large touch screen PC.
  • The PC clearly displays the recipe formulation, target weights for each ingredient together with safety information.
  • The dispensary’ balances & scales and any bar-code reader are linked back to the PC.
  • The PC also acts as the interface to the PLC and any machine control within the dispensary, such as hopper valve actuation, post hoists and so on.
  • Dispensed weights are captured electronically and uploaded to the database.
  • The PC uses GE Fanuc Interlution iFix SCADA software.

The system is fully CFR 21 Part 11 compliant, using windows based security for user names and passwords via the client’s intranet.
